Capote still build suspense by not telling what happened all at once you find out piece by piece as it unfolds. Everyone wants to know what happened in the house as the clutters died. The effect of him switching back to the killers to present Holcomb is that we know what was happening with the killers as the detectives and the investigation starts to heat up while people in Holcomb are trying to leave to other states where it might be safer and Perry and Dick are going to Mexico and when they get there they are paying prostitutes and fishing and having fun. I think that maybe they will tell about the murders in detail when Perry and Dick are caught and one of them confess. Whoever confesses will probably tell them everything that happened. Another way that Capote could have gone with the plot is he could have started with Dick and Perry’s background their childhoods and things of that sort then do the rest the way that he did that way the things that Dick does like running over dogs and things like that would probably be more explainable and things wouldn’t be so confusing.
