At the beginning of the book Capote builds suspense, because the narrator talks about the murders life then goes back to the Clutter’s life, it goes back and forth. Capote tells us special facts and features about the characters, what they do and how each of them connects to each other. Since the beginning of the book we knew that the Clutter family were going to die because when they were planning it said to kill all suspects even those who had nothing to do with it.
The affect of the author using of montage is that it confuses the reader because it goes back and forth to each of the characters lives and some facts that should of been said at the beginning to help us understand the story more instead it was left to know towards the end of the story. For example the story flows and talks about the Clutters then about Dick but switches up with out letting the reader know whom we were talking about.
Capote describes the crime scene until we know a certain amount of information of each character. The book tells us about how Dick and Perry met in jails and prepared for the crime scene.
We know that Perry had already committed crime of killing somebody and been in jail before killed somebody, Dick thought he was a natural criminal and that’s why he picked him to be his partner in the crime of the Clutter family.
I think that the structures that Capote used were good because even if it was sort of confusing we got to know important facts before the crime was done
Your summary made lot's of sense it would have been better if you explained more details about some of the characters better, its true that Dick thought he had a mind of a criminal when Perry was more of a criminal than him because he has been through way more worst then him,?? Capote did use good structure of the story explaining everything specifically.
