Setting (Roberto)

The setting in the book In Cold Blood By: Truman Capote describes and explains about a family massacre in Holcomb, Kansas. Capote describes Holcomb as a nice, unknown, peaceful town, in Western Kansas where Kansans call it “out there”, 70 miles east of the Colorado border, with dark blue skies, and desert-clear air it is like no other town everyone knows each other very well. The town was different from other towns because Holcomb wasn’t heard of for big news like murder, robberies, fires it was more deserted and a small town, mid-sized number of people living their making it an unknown place for many. Capote explains or gives us many details about Holcomb because Holcomb is like any other town quiet, peaceful, non-harmful after the bloody massacre at the Clutter home Holcomb changed forever, fearing, scaring neighbors, the community for which they were in fear of something happening to their family and themselves too.
In the beginning of the book it describes the jail as a cold hearted place where only criminals were held Dick and Perry first met their as they plotted or heard about the Clutter Family from a former cellmate Floyd Wells which he was setting them up for the worst, but that both Dick and Perry served time for bad behaviors, disobeying the law, when they were caught for the murderers of the Clutter Family they were put to death.

  1. Wow that's a great way to express your ideas about the book and describing the settings also describing the characters. I liked the fact that you used big words that we as juniors students don't frequently use. Great job buddy! :)
