Crucible (Daleshawn)

There are a couple other definitions of the word Crucible that Arthur Miller could have used for the book the Crucible. But the definition that the Arthur Miller used is a severe test or trial. In the book the town of Salem have a big trial for a lot of people being accused for practicing witchcraft or accused for being a witch. The people that are being accused are either innocent or have been framed or accused by Abigail and the group of girls that are scared of Abigail. The author also use the definition severe test, when Abigail framed John Proctor for something he did not do and also framed his wife, so she makes John Proctor choose to live with a dishonored name or die for what he believes. The severe test was not just for John Proctor it was for Salem as a whole. The reason why I think that is just because of someone has a different religion that they think it is not the right religion or that they worship the devil or something that is similar to those things. If someone was in a coma the town would try to accuse someone or group of people of being a witch or accused of practicing witchcraft.
