I believe the death penalty
does help prevent crimes a little. Its just thank we can never really be sure.
There are crimes and murders still being committed even with the death penalty
out there so people can argue that it doesn’t. All we know for certain is that
the victims of the death penalty will no longer be committing any more crimes.
But in reality that isn’t insuring enough. And the death penalty isn’t scaring
shop lifters, bad drivers, or drug dealers into a crimeless life. They cant
even be touched by the death penalty and those are the crimes that are being
committed the most. Maybe If every crime
was eligible of the death penalty THEN id say it would help prevent crimes.
Everyone would be too scared to do anything! As for the families of the crime
victims.. I don’t think they should be able to chose if the murderer gets the
death penalty or not. All they would have going through their minds is revenge.
Most families would give the death penalty to any and all murders and that
wouldn’t be fair at all just because their emotions would be all up in a bunch.
And the families should definitely not be able to pull the switch that ends the
prisoners. That’s not something that should be put in the hands of a regular
citizen, a government official or some type of law enforcer should be held
responsible of doing so.
