“Character Development" (Leslie)

In the book Capote it well describes secondary characters such as Al Dewey, Capote describes him well in the book because Al Dewey got very involved in the case when the Clutter’s had died, he really wanted to know who killed them and why such cruelty, he was really got involved that he spent hours investigating the case, he’s was the one helping the investigators solve the case by gathering clues, like the foot print and others, and that’s a big step in the book, he wanted to know and solve it because he was really close to the clutter family.
Other characters I find memorable are Bobby Rupp Nancy’s boyfriend whom was the last to see the family right after the murders had happened, he’s the one who told what time he had left and what they did which helped. Also Mrs. Hideo Ashida, also seen Mr. Clutter the last out of the neighborhood in Holcomb, she helped put some clues together too. I think these were the most memorable characters because there the ones who seen them last and cared for them a lot and were shocked when this happened also they helped investigators, and were well described in the book.
The techniques Capote uses to characterize the killers is that he talks about their past and the reasons they’ve killed them. For instance he talks about their childhood to their accidents to their life dreams, he describes them really well. Yes Capote made me feel sympathetic towards Perry because he goes deep and tells us the cruelty Perry had went thru as a kid he was mistreated by many, and all the special qualities he had he liked poetry and music and was great at it, Also knowing that he was having second thougths about killing the family.
