In
modern society hysteria does take over a lot. For example, in 2001, there was a
rumor that the world was going to end. A lot of people were scared and
terrorized. And when the world didn’t end and the whole 9/11 tragedy happened,
many people said that that was the beginning of the world ending. But that
obviously didn’t happen.
Like in 2001, many people agreed
that the world would end on December 21, 2012, because that was the end of the
Mayan calendar. Some people were
skeptical about it but others believed it. On the dates of December 20th
and 22nd, social networks were blowing up. In my opinion, those
dates were the dates that I had the most annoying news feed ever. On the 20th
people were saying many thing about being scared, not wanting to die. And on
the 22nd people were talking about “surviving” the Mayan apocalypse.
When in reality nothing happened.
I personally think that the Mayan
calendar ended for other reasons. I am not sure which reasons but I don’t think
that the end of their calendar meant the end of the world in any sense I think
it meant the beginning of a new era.
I am sure that in the future other
people are going to make more rumors about the world ending. But I don’t think
that anybody knows when the word is going to end. I believe that only God knows
when he want to end this world.
