In my
personal opinion I think that it goes both ways, timeliness and dated. I say
it’s dated because of how the situation played out. As in how the house was in
the country far away from others, because now a days houses are pretty close to
each other even in the country. Back then since houses were so far apart Perry
and Dick knew nobody would be able to hear the gunshots, and call the police.
They also knew the Clutter family were good people so others wouldn’t really
bother to think to ever just check up on them. The way the murders’ set up the
plan was also dated, because they were going off of what someone else said,
they didn’t see anything or even know anything from their own knowledge. I
think its timeliness because a murder is a murder. No matter if it’s in the
1900’s or the 20th century. People will go around killing people in
daylight with no real intentions of it. Just over the weekend someone got
killed a couple of blocks away from my house, and it was plenty of people as
witnesses or at least in the area to help them. Perry and Dick didn’t care
about killing the Clutters and Murders’ now days don’t care who they kill,
because it’s for their own selfish reasons. All in all a Murder is a murder no
matter what place or time it is. How things are planned may go differently, but
that’s about it.
