Trayvon Martin (Daleshawn)

ICB Blog 2
Nature versus nurture plays a role in the debate of the Trayvon Martin murder. Saying that the nature of Zimmerman could be that he always thought that a person walking the streets with a hood on is a criminal. Maybe he always thought that a lot of black people were criminals or drug dealers, and other things like that. Zimmerman also could always have thoughts that people he did not know or trust was or is a bad person. He could also be racist against many different races that is not the same or similar to his own race. Zimmerman assumed that Trayvon Martin wanted to harm, rob, or kill him just because Trayvon had a hood on and he looked suspicious to Zimmerman. He also assumed that Trayvon was up to no good or planning to do something he was not supposed to do. The society sees this event as an act of stereotyping. The reason why they think that is that Trayvon Martin was known as a good kid never done anything wrong, stayed out of trouble, and did what he was told. Just saying, if the environment that they were in had less crimes going on maybe Zimmerman probably would have not killed Trayvon. Zimmerman’s environment that made him kill was probably a violent environment that made him start to kill in the first place. The society could help prevent things like this by telling the children to not be out at night by your-self or not at all. They could also help by telling the children to not wear their hoods at night, and if they do wear them be alert of your surroundings or who is around you.

Travyon Martin Case (Carlton)

I think Trayvon Martin’s killer, Zimmerman, grew up in a family where they didn’t really like black people and thought that they were some kind of threat to cause harm to other people. So him being raised in that type of environment made he believe that since Trayvon was black he was trying to harm him in some kind of way, which lead to him to calling the police and him eventually shooting Trayvon. I also believe that he was raised in a very violent and abusive environment because most people just don’t go around killing people that hasn’t done anything to them unless they seen another person doing it. Him killing Trayvon caused everybody to believed that he is a racist person that should be sent to prison for the rest of his life or be killed. If Zimmerman would of grew up in an environment that realized that everybody was created equal and people shouldn’t be judge by the color of their skin then none of this would of happened. Trayvon would’ve still been alive and he wouldn’t have to go through all this. I don’t think that there is nothing that society can do to prevent this from happening again. People are taught these things by their parents or guardians and the society can’t stop the parents from teaching it to their children.

Trayvon Martin Case (Fonda)

In my opinion, I think that if Zimmerman was raised in a different type of environment where people are all equal and blacks are not excluded, then the death of Trayvon Martin would not have happened the way it did. Zimmerman called the police when he seen Trayvon walking back home from the convenient store, telling them that he looked suspicious and he felt like his life was in danger. He assumed that just because Trayvon was black that his life was being threatened, which was not the case. He killed Trayvon just because the simple fact, he did not like black people. Society views this situation was being wrong in every way. They want Zimmerman locked up for life and justice for Trayvon. He didn’t do anything wrong, he was innocent. Some think the way it happened is crazy because of the environment they were in. It was a mixed neighborhood but you could say it was mostly whites. Zimmerman may have freaked out because of how Trayvon was dressed. They say he was wearing his hood up on his hoodie and that’s why Zimmerman thought that he was up to something crazy or suspicious. All in all Trayvon was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. The young boy should not have had to die the way he did. Justice needs to be served.

Nature Vs. Nurture (Ricardo)

Trayvon Martin went to go buys snacks at a gas near his to house and when he was on his way back. Than I man with the name of George Zimmerman called 911 to report him saying that he looked very suspicious and before you know it he took matters to his own hands and shot and killed Trayvon Martin. His excuse was that he thought he had a weapon but when the police checked Trayton’s body all he had was a bag of skittles and an Arizona tea. Most people believe that this was a racist act from George Zimmerman I believe so too. But I’m not sure if his racism is Nurture or Nature. I say in order to known we would have to know a lot about his past. Maybe Someone from a different race did something to him in his early and he built a hate for that race. But he could have was born with a hate other races. Or Maybe his parents raised him to be races and it is normal to him to not like blacks or other races. I believe still that either way he had some mental issues. I say that every violent crime that is committed is different because you don’t know you don’t know what people are thinking is normal for them and there legit.
