Plot/ structure
Since the beginning of the book Capote builds suspense because he talks about the day of the murder but then he goes and tells about each on the clutters, he tells us how everyone is, what they do and they also tells us about other characters. Since the beginning of the book we know that they are going to die because that’s what it tells us at the beginning.
The affect of the author using of montage is that it confuses the reader a little bit because it talks about one thing and then it goes and talks about something else. Like its talking about the clutters than it goes and talks about Dick and Perry without saying who they really were, and than it goes back and talks about the clutters again and than about Dick and Perry and it just goes back and forth.
Capote describes the crime scene until we know a little bit about everyone, he tells us about Perry’s and Dick’s life and how they prepare for the day of the murder.
We know that Perry had already killed somebody and he had been in jail before, that’s why Dicks decides that Perry could be a good person to work with him in the killing of the family because he had some experience already and he knew that he will do it and he was not going to say no at the last minute.
I think that the structures that Capote used were good because even if it was a little confusing we got to know about the clutters family and about Dick and Perry before the day of the murder.
