Changed Holcomb (Leroy)

The book that changed a town: four members of the Clutter family were murdered at their farmhouse in Holcomb, Kansas. The crime was a tragedy witch inspired Truman Capote to write the book. After the murder the town was unsure, of who to trust and who not to trust. Holcomb was a small town; everybody knew each other they should of knew that the killer had to be from another town. The killers names was Dick and Perry. They left very little evidence for investigators to trace. People in Holcomb felt scared. Many say that the clutter family was a lot to the Holcomb and was very generous. After loosing them the town was just not the same. Many other factors to Holcomb desired to move far away and start something new. If a murder were to occur to someone important in Kansas City Kansas I wonder if it would affect the same way. I think Holcomb was so small that everybody knew the Clutter family very well. To me that should have brought the city together although u always should watch whom you trust. I can’t imagine how Bobby Rupp and his family felt. If my girlfriend and her whole family were murdered, I don’t know what I would do, or how I would take it. I would probably completely loose it.

the world will not end. (Leroy)

The Mayan calender has been in the news lately predicting the end of the world in December 2012.  Do you believe the world is fated to end then?  Why or Why not? Every person I believe as a Christian that the world isn’t going to end. We believe that the world will end when Jesus Christ comes back to the world during the rapture to take us home. No man nor woman knows when the world will end until it actually happens. So we know that in history, the Mayans predicted that in their calender that the world will actually end December 21st, 2012. So some non-believers think that the world will end on that day and not when God calls us all home from all the evil from the world. I think that when that guy thought he can predict the world would end in the year 2000, to find out that his number predictions was counted wrong. Then he tried to say that the world will end in 2011 during the summer. Which he was also wrong about. I just believe that if Jesus is ready to come home and save us, then we will know when we can feel his warm embrace. So you can think that Jesus is going to come home someitme soon, but we all as humans, will never know that right specific time or the right place when He will come but all I know is that when he comes, I’ll be ready.

Trumans choice of poem (Leroy)

Brothers that live when we are dead, don’t set yourself against us too. If you could pity us instead,
then God may sooner pity to you. I think what he means by this poem, is that for who ever was not affected in the cold blood murder. Should not judge and should show some care. I think he also said this, to keep readers from thinking worse of the victims that took place in the book. When I read the translation of his French poem to English, it was after I got far into the book. The effect it had on me was bringing me closer to the victims,  because what goes around do come around. Many people don’t usually show sympathy to people they don’t know well, I think that is why the victims are round in the book. When someone dies everyday, and yet are life’s are not effected. I recently had someone who I did not know on the best note, but yet I still showed him pity and respect to attending his funeral. If the world had more pity respect, and sympathy the world would be a better place. When someone dies they should still be respected as a person. Me personally when I die, I would not mind any body’s pity besides my family I don’t need anyone else. You know?

confess save the trouble, your reputation is not worth your life (Leroy)

In Salem many people died by telling the truth, but more people live by pleading guilty of witchcraft. I think the rules we’re stupid, anyone in the correct state of mind would see that people only confess a lie to save their lives. Me personally would not have a problem with pleading guilty to save my life. I have nieces and family to live for. I know the normal human causality is to tell on another for bringing their selves harm. I would not gives new names, because that seems like it would elevate the problem, and bring more people to that turning point. John proctor at the end of the play denied Abigail’s life, and pleaded innocent. I think is reason of doing that was for respect. If john proctor would have pleaded guilty, witchcraft would be stuck on his name, and his three children would have to grow up knowing that it was proven their father had something to do witch craft.
I am a type of person that does not care what the next person thinks. I think people will have to learn that in life, because it will always be gossip upon you. I am a Christian and lying is not one my favorites, but to save my life I would have to ask for forgiveness once again.
