Hysteria (Ana)

I think in our modern society we do let hysteria take over. For example when there is a killing or when an accident happens some people react and do instead of thinking straight and looking at all the options they have. Even for example when an accidents happen say a little kid gets hurt playing some mothers automatically cry and expect the worst when in reality its just a little scratch or bump.
Not only do people rationally react when something happens to kids, people mostly women let their emotions get a hold of them when having to do with breakups. They don’t think clearly and make a fool of themselves. They are over powered with their broken heart that instead of getting over the break up they make the situation bigger than it really is.
In the book the people from the town over react to there being witches and since they are afraid they let that fear over rule their rational thinking. If they would have maybe thing would have turned out different and the lives that were lost would have been saved.  People would have really thought about whom they were accusing and maybe the whole hangings would never have happened.

Hysteria (Keith)

A lot of times in the society now hysteria does take over.  Its not as bad as I would be hundreds of years ago but it still goes on. Ive seen people so scared of things like clowns that they’re not able to go out to the circus or things like that. After watching a horror movie where this guy was kidnapping people I admit that I was kind of paranoid for a little and I didn’t like being outside at night for a while. When terrorists attacked on 9/11 Americans were left in fear. People were taking drastic measures and people would avoid Muslims or Iranians. They were being judged just because people had the fear of what the people did and the fear of terrorists was taking over and changing how people lived they’re daily lives. There’s a lot going on with gun violence and I believe people are letting their fear get in the way of thinking and being realistic. I hear people saying that civilians shouldn’t be able to own guns but that would be taking away means of protection for people homes.  Yea hysteria is a problem in society today but I believe it doesn’t exist in strong minded people.

Hysteria (Martin)

Throughout the many years hysteria has caused a lot of destruction in society. It has brought out a lot of fear in people of today and in the past. I think hysteria can take over a person’s mind; it can also make a person insane by having unmanageable emotions or fear. People who are hysterical often lose self-control due to an overwhelming fear that may be caused by multiple events. I think one example that hysteria was big in America was in during the Red Scare because many people were scared and feared that the United States was going to be taking over by communism. It made many people paranoid and hysterical. Also during the red scare people had trust issues because they could have been communist spy. I think people who let hysteria take over them well end up doing stupid things that they well regret. Hysteria is like a disease to the mind. Another example of hysteria in America was after the 9/11, most people would be scared to fly in plane with Muslims even do they need to know that not all Muslims are terrorist. Hysteria can cause a lot problems to society and it’s a scary thing but I think most people should just ignore it and keep on living their lives.

Hysteria (Jacqueline)

In our society we do let hysteria take over. Not everybody does it but some do. Hysteria happens all the time. People get excited over little things. Probably by a gift is given a holiday is coming up. Its those little things that causes nice emotions. Some do over react to things and some don't. People can over react on things that might happen it can be bad or good things. Some people don't really think logically always thinking the worst. Some can't except the truth. Yes hysteria does happen in society now and always is.

Hysteria in modern society (Sofia)

In modern society hysteria does take over a lot. For example, in 2001, there was a rumor that the world was going to end. A lot of people were scared and terrorized. And when the world didn’t end and the whole 9/11 tragedy happened, many people said that that was the beginning of the world ending. But that obviously didn’t happen.
Like in 2001, many people agreed that the world would end on December 21, 2012, because that was the end of the Mayan calendar.  Some people were skeptical about it but others believed it. On the dates of December 20th and 22nd, social networks were blowing up. In my opinion, those dates were the dates that I had the most annoying news feed ever. On the 20th people were saying many thing about being scared, not wanting to die. And on the 22nd people were talking about “surviving” the Mayan apocalypse. When in reality nothing happened.
I personally think that the Mayan calendar ended for other reasons. I am not sure which reasons but I don’t think that the end of their calendar meant the end of the world in any sense I think it meant the beginning of a new era.
I am sure that in the future other people are going to make more rumors about the world ending. But I don’t think that anybody knows when the word is going to end. I believe that only God knows when he want to end this world.

Hysteria (Oscar)

In modern society we do let our emotions/madness take over. It all depends on what situation you’re in. for example if you find out your wife/husband is cheating on you. You’re obviously going be up your emotions and let them take over. And just negative thoughts will keep coming up and you wont know what to do until death/suicide comes up and you end killing your wife or husband. And you wont know what to do afterwards and end up killing your self.  A lot of people tend to let this emotions take over and not get help before it’s too late. In some cases some people even let all these emotions that do not even exist mess with their head and let those mixed emotions get in their head and that sometimes affects their future. Sometimes people let go of good opportunities because of those emotions that are not real. This is one of the main reasons people need to watch out and try and control themselves and their emotions more often.  People shouldn’t let Hysteria get in the way of their lives or how they should react with certain people around them. At the end when you’re back to your normal self you would regret what you have done.

Hysteria (Jamilex)

I believe that some gun owners are becoming too emotional about government efforts to keep so many guns off the street. After the shootings at the school in Connecticut, many people including the president called for some kind of gun control. I think that there is too much violence and that it is too easy for people to get guns. Just recently, several young children from around here have been shot accidentally because they found guns lying around at home. We need to make it harder for people to get guns, but the guns owners are being unreasonable about any changes. I think that they are being a little hysterical about this issue. Commonsense should tell us that we do not need assault weapons in our homes. Theirs a lot of people that do a lot of shooting and they should give permission on shooting. There is some people that are so crazy enough to kill little children and cops like there is a lot of issues about this. I think they should take more care about who you giving the gun to but eventually their going to find a gun or get a gun from someone. This is my opinion of this and of  course some people do let hysteria take over like what I said in here.

Hysteria (Angelica)

Hysteria is still used in modern day today. We ask each other why there is so much judgment to people we hardly know? Why is that? You look at a girl and think “Oh, she looks like a nice girl” And right when you are thinking that SOMEONE disturbs your thoughts and tells you a rumor about her wanting to be with every guy, and that’s where hysteria takes place in. People start mentioning the same thing about the same girl and you start to believe their comments. You start to say the same thing about her too and get anything that she does to make it look as if what you are saying is correct. For example if she waves at a guy you automatically think she is hitting on that guy to like everyone says and you start to think to yourself “Oh, now I understand why he or she are saying that! Yes she is around everywhere”! But did you ever take the time to think that maybe just MAYBE she is just being friendly? Maybe that guy or all those guys are just her cousins? Why automatically “think” she wants to be with all of them?
